The State Library of Iowa is the state's lead agency for the State Data program, a cooperative program with the U.S. Census Bureau. The purpose of the program is to increase the availability of census data in Iowa and to help people use it. The State Library also is Iowa's liaison to the Federal-State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates. The program fosters cooperation between the states and the U.S. Census Bureau in the preparation of population estimates and the development of improved methods, joint research, and policies for population estimates.
