Christie Vilsack hosts celebrity storytelling, honors Iowa Stories 2000 communities at State Fair
First Lady Christie Vilsack will host the 3rd Annual Celebrity Storytelling Contest and honor Iowa Stories 2000 communities from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, August 10, at the Iowa State Fair. The event will take place on the Wellmark Stage. This year's storytellers include:
Ted Stilwell, Director of the Department of
Education
Mo Dana, Executive Director of the Des Moines Arts Festival
Maureen Korte, Education Coordinator for the Civic Center of Greater Des
Moines
Mollie Cooney, Reporter for KCCI Channel 8 News, Des Moines
Wayne Ford, State Representative from District 71, Des Moines
Dave Ashcraft, Children’s Librarian for the Public Library of Des Moines
Fifth grade students from the Des Moines area will judge the contestants.
Mrs. Vilsack will also distribute "Literacy Community" banners to this year's Iowa Stories 2000 communities. They are:
