State Library, IPTV Offer Summer Reading Flier for Families

Last modified March 28, 2006 08:40 PM

Again this year, Iowa Public Television and the State Library of Iowa have collaborated to create a summer reading flier for families. The flier highlights IPTV's extended summer program schedule and program series that are related specifically to books.

This year the flier is in a little different format. It is only two-pages that can be printed front to back to equal one sheet of paper. We also tried to incorporate 2004's summer reading program theme, Discover New Trails. We encourage you to print as many as you would like for your library patrons. We have also designed a page of bookmarks on Before, During and After Reading Strategies from the Every Child Reads curriculum, as well as Tips to Tame the Tube.

You can find links to both the summer reading flyer and the page of bookmarks at the following address: http://www.iptv.org/shareastory.cfm

During the summer months, IPTV broadcasts 11 hours of non-violent, non-commercial, educational children's television programming each weekday. IPTV does not recommend that children spend their summer watching television. This schedule is included in the summer reading flyer to assist children and adults as they plan their television viewing.

As always, we wish you the best of luck with your summer programs. Please contact me directly if you have questions or concerns about the summer reading flyer or the page of bookmarks. We hope you like them, find them helpful, and will put them to good use.
