Karen Burns Named ILA Member of the Year

Karen Burns, administrator of the Southwest Iowa Library Service Area, was named the Iowa Library Association's Member of the Year at the fall conference on October 14.

The nominator noted that Karen ..."encourages librarians to grow and to be the best they can be, and at the same time is responsive to their questions and learning needs.  The work she has done with libraries and library boards has unquestionably resulted in significant improvements in library services for Iowans.  She serves as an exemplary model:  She is committed to serving Iowans; confident in her knowledge and abilities; passionate about her job and a leader in the library community.  She is a creative thinker and innovator, a change agent, and an active participant in positive movement toward the future."
