Public Library Directors and Staff Invited to WebJunction Focus Group

Last modified March 28, 2006 08:40 PM

Library directors and staff are invited to a focus group on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the State Library.  (The focus group will be completed in time for you to attend the Iowa Library Association Legislative Day activities if you so choose.)  You may be aware that OCLC, with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has developed a website called WebJunction to help libraries who provide computers for public use.   After two years of operation, we need your help in assessing WebJunction.  We are especially interested in your viewpoint as a front-line librarian who works with the public and computers.  You don’t need a technical background.

We are planning two focus groups:

  • If you are a registered user of WebJunction, or have gone to the website several times, please join us in the morning.
  • If you have never used WebJunction or only visited the website once or twice, please join us in the early afternoon.

The focus group will be facilitated by WebJunction evaluation team member Sara Laughlin.

The focus group for users is:
Wednesday, March 2
9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
State Library of Iowa
Ada North Room

The focus group for nonusers is:
Wednesday, March 2
12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
State Library of Iowa
Ada North Room

We’ll provide lunch, and a small honorarium of $15.00 to offset your mileage costs.  You will also receive one contact hour of continuing education credit, the same as you would for a library roundtable.

Participation is limited to the first 20 to respond. Please register here.

Whether or not you’ve used WebJunction before, we hope you’ll spend a few minutes before you come to familiarize yourself with its current contents: http://ia.webjunction.org/

Don’t forget to make your focus group reservation today.  Thanks for helping us ensure that this new web service meets your needs.  We’ll see you on March 2.
