First Lady Christie Vilsack's Online Book Club
Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack has extended her interactive, online book club for middle school students, "In the Middle," into the school year. Each month students will get the chance to read a selected book and be able to discuss it online with the First Lady and other students using the First Lady's website, www.christievilsack.org. Information on how to join the club is available on the web site.
In September, the selected book is the sixth Harry Potter novel, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" by J. K. Rowling. Future books will be announced as they are selected. The selections are generally chosen with sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders in mind. However, any students who would enjoy the club are welcome to participate.
Mrs. Vilsack began her online book club for 6th, 7th and 8th graders in June, 2005.
