Check them out!

The State Library has some new and exciting titles in the library science and general collection that can be checked out at the library or through interlibrary loan.

Examples of some of the new general collection titles include:

Red sky at morning : America and the crisis of the global environment / James Gustave Speth.
The tipping point : how little things can make a big difference / Malcolm Gladwell ; [with a new afterword by the author].
Who governs? : democracy and power in an American city / Robert A. Dahl ; foreword by Douglas W. Rae ; new preface by the author.
The world is flat : a brief history of the twenty-first century / Thomas L. Friedman.

Professional materials to help librarians are expensive to purchase and hard to justify buying with libraries' limited book budgets.  The State Library strives to provide librarians access to an up-to-date library science collection.  Examples of new titles include:

Supporting e-learning : a guide for library and information managers / edited by Maxine Melling.
The reference librarian's policies, forms, guidelines, and procedures handbook with CD-ROM
The virtual reference desk : creating a reference future / edited by R. David Lankes ... [et al.].
Readers' advisory service in the public library / Joyce G. Saricks.
In-house bookbinding and repair / Sharon McQueen
Field guide to emergency response / produced by Heritage Preservation

To find a particular title or materials in a certain subject area, look in the State Library's online catalog.  Link to it in the top right hand corner of the State Library's Web site (Our Catalog).
