Celebrating Library Day on Capitol Hill

Dear Fellow Iowan,

This past Tuesday, June 26, I joined library advocates and representatives of the American Library Association in celebrating Library Day on Capitol Hill.  It is important that we recognize the various roles libraries play in our communities.  Libraries provide wonderful opportunities to people and promote literacy for all ages. While in Congress, I have worked to support libraries, literacy, education, and community development efforts.

In May I attended a reception at the Newton Library to announce the We the People Bookshelf, from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Just this month, I was honored to speak at the grand opening of the newly renovated Carnegie Building of the Marengo Library.

Communities all throughout Iowa share special bonds with their libraries and librarians.  Supporting libraries serves people of all ages and interests.  I look forward to continue working to ensure that our libraries remain a priority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

3rd Congressional District of Iowa
