2008 All Iowa Reads Book Announced October 12 at ILA Conference

The All Iowa Reads (AIR) Committee has selected a book for 2008.  Committee members winnowed through at least a dozen different books before choosing next year's selection.

The title will be announced at the Iowa Library Association Conference on October 12.  Early that afternoon, information about the book will be available on the Iowa Center for the Book Web site under All Iowa Reads.

The following are criteria for an AIR book:

1. Be available in paperback, large print and unabridged audio
2. Lend itself to in-depth discussion and raise universal social issues relevant to Iowans
3. Be accessible to adults and high school age youth
   
   It is desirable, but not required, that the book:

1. Have an Iowa or Midwest connection
2. Is a recent publication that has not been widely read
