Janet Mohs Appointed to Library Commission

Mohs's appointment fills the Commission position which represents health care.

Governor Chet Culver has appointed Janet Mohs to the Iowa Commission of Libraries. 

Mohs works for Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines and has been a registered nurse for 34 years with a focus on pediatric critical care.  She received her BSN from the University of San Francisco and her MSN from the University of California, San Francisco.

Mohs lived most of her adult life in the San Francisco Bay area working at Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.  She relocated to Des Moines 12 years ago.  She has a son and daughter, both in college.

"I am an avid competitive triathlete and race extensively throughout the summer, including three Ironman finishes, two of which have been the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI," said Mohs.  "I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Des Moines Triathlon Club."

"I am passionate about wellness and fitness and love speaking to people about it," Mohs said.

She attended her first Commission meeting on December 14, 2007.
