Learn to be an "Engaged" Librarian
Annual town meetings provide opportunities to learn about major issues affecting libraries, gain ideas for improving programs and services and get to know State Library and Library Service Area staff better.
This year's theme is The Engaged Library: Getting to Know Your Community. In the morning, we will explore ways to integrate our libraries into our communities. Then, we will take a few minutes to talk about Community Grants and hear from our friends at the Iowa Library Association.
The afternoon sessions include:
Collection-Driven Services: While we spend significant dollars (not to mention staff time) finding the right items for our collection, we mainly take the attitude "if we build it, they will come" after putting the items in our collection. This session will discuss various ways to build services around our collections and communities.
Getting the Most from EBSCOhost 2.0: EBSCOhost has updated and added features to its interface. Get a tour of the new features and discover new ways to market this terrific resource to the various groups in your communities.
Conversations About Community: This open session give you the opportunity to talk about the changing nature of communities. Join Mary Wegner and other State Library staff for a lively discussion.
