State Library Staff Attend Leadership Institute
Dan Boice, Iowa Commission of Libraries, also takes part in event.
Twenty-five librarians from across the state took part in the 2008 Iowa Library Association (ILA) Leadership Institute, including State Library staff Barb Corson and Michele Leininger, and Dan Boice of the Iowa Commission of Libraries. The Institute was held July 22-25 in Davenport, IA.
Maureen Sullivan, who has 20 years experience as a consultant in organization development, led the workshop.
"I really appreciated the opportunity to attend the Institute," said Corson. "Maureen Sullivan was top notch and it was a great learning experience working with other Iowa library leaders."
The Institute is sponsored by the Iowa Library Association and receives additional financial support with donations from the State Library, ILA Subdivisions, and the ILA Foundation. It is designed to establish a comprehensive leadership development program to ensure that its members are prepared to actively shape the future of Iowa libraries. The next institute will be held in 2010.
"The process gave me much to reflect on about my own leadership skills," Corson said. "It helped me with strategies and ideas I can bring back to my workplace and use."
