This program is designed to help library staff, trustees and community discussion leaders plan a discussion of the 2012 All Iowa Reads (AIR) selection “Strength in What Remains” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Tracy Kidder. The session will include a review of the criteria used to select the book, resources available on the Iowa Center for the Book Website, tips on how to make your discussion successful, availability of multiple copies to use for your discussion, and how to add information to the Iowa Center for the Book AIR Web site about your upcoming program. The heart of the program will be an in-depth exchange between Susan Craig, Director of the Iowa City Public Library, and George Minot, Professor of English at Kirkwood Community College, who will discuss topics and themes that will help you in leading your “Strength in What Remains” events. There will be time for audience questions. When registering for this event, if you do not see an ICN location near you, please contact Robin Martin at coordinator@iowacenterforthebook.org We will add a site at our cost if you are more than 30 miles from a site. If you are less than 30 miles from a scheduled ICN site and you still want to add a site, we will bill you $15 per hour plus any room charges. |
