The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2012 population estimates for the U.S. and States. Iowa's highlights include:
- Iowa's population increased to 3,074,186
- This is the 23rd year in a row that Iowa's population has increased
- Iowa ranked 30th in population, 35th in numeric change from 2010-2012, and 35th in percent change from 2010-2012
- Iowa experienced a loss in domestic migration from 2010-2012 of 3,274 but saw an international migration increase of 9,269
