U.S. Census Bureau released its 2012 population estimates for the U.S. and States

The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2012 population estimates for the U.S. and States. Iowa's highlights include:

  • Iowa's population increased to 3,074,186
  • This is the 23rd year in a row that Iowa's population has increased
  • Iowa ranked 30th in population, 35th in numeric change from 2010-2012, and 35th in percent change from 2010-2012
  • Iowa experienced a loss in domestic migration from 2010-2012 of 3,274 but saw an international migration increase of 9,269

Reports can be found on the Iowa State Data Center website: http://data.iowadatacenter.org Use the navigation box on the left-hand side of the page, select  "Population Estimates" and then either "Population Totals" or "Components of Change."
