Why not just use the Internet to find information? This presentation will focus on how to use data from the U.S. Census Bureau effectively whether it is for writing a grant or doing community analysis. We will look at using the data to add perspective and comparative analysis as well as getting a basic understanding of the types of data available. The presentation will also show users how to find and access the data.
Instructor Gary Krob is the coordinator of Iowa’s State Data Center, a federal-state cooperative program with the U.S. Census Bureau. The State Data Center is a division of Iowa Library Services and its mission is to provide and increase the availability of census data in Iowa and to help people use it. The State Data Center is also an advocate for policies to improve census data about Iowa.
Gary is also the coordinator of the Federal-State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates (FSCPE) and the Federal-State Cooperative Program for Population Projections (FSCPP). He helps businesses, libraries, state government, and the general public find the data they need whether it is available online or in print.
