Planning for the Future: In this fourth of five sessions, we’ll look at the board’s responsibility for long-range planning. Standard #16 requires that “…the library has a written plan…which outlines goals and objectives to meet community needs…” This class looks at planning in the context of a popular model from the Public Library Association—Planning For Results.
This series of 5 online classes covers the 5 major responsibilities of library boards. Throughout this series, we'll discuss the board’s role in the library operation, including hiring the director, developing policy, overseeing the budget, planning, and advocacy. Because Iowa library boards are considered “administrative,” these classes will help boards better understand their roles and responsibilities.
Individual attendance at any of these online sessions helps the library meet Standard #15: "...all members of the library board of trustees participate in continuing education each year..."
There are five sessions in this series and separate registration is required for each session. You do not have to take all five sessions to participate.
