Iowa Library Services is pleased to offer six face-to-face early literacy workshops in March. This year, we'll be focusing on the developmental issues, needs and programming for 3-to-5-year-olds. Similar workshops last March focused on children birth to age 3.
The workshop will be led by Dena Goplerud and Merri Monks and is entitled "Developing Literacy Abilities of Three- to Five-year-olds: Strategies for Librarians." The event number is YS-DLA3-5Mar2014, and the CE catalog is here:
The workshops will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be one hour and is on your own. Each attendee will earn 5.5 hours of continuing education credits. Packets of handouts will be available for each attendee at the workshops.

March 13 Mason City Public Library - North Central
March 14 Cedar Falls Public Library -- Northeast
March 20 Coralville Public Library -- Southeast
March 27 Sac City Public Library -- Northwest
March 28 Red Oak Public Library -- Southwest
Dena Goplerud is an expert in early childhood education. She has been a teacher, has worked for Iowa Public Television and the Iowa Department of Education. Merri Monks is youth services consultant for Iowa Library Services.
