The State Library of Iowa has announced an updated brand identity, including a redesigned logo and new tagline that reflects the agency’s mission and support offered to Iowans and libraries.
“We are excited to officially unveil our new logo and tagline, which has been in the works for months,” said State Librarian Michael Scott. “The updated graphics represent the evolution of the State Library while remaining true to the historical significance of the agency and our mission to serve Iowans and Iowa libraries.”
The newly created tagline, “Information | Consultation | Destination,” emphasizes the primary purposes of the agency: a reliable source of information for all Iowans; expert consultants to help improve library service in Iowa; and a place to visit, both online and in-person, for access to exclusive resources and historic architecture.
The redesigned logo was inspired by the classical architecture in both the Main Library in the Miller Building and the Iowa Law Library in the State Capitol. The medallion graphic maintains a contemporary color palette and modern triad motif.
The rebranding effort will be rolled out through the summer and fall. While the State Library logo, tagline and look have changed, the mission of the agency remains to provide leadership for Iowa libraries and expand access to information to all Iowans.
The Main Library is located in the Ola Babcock Miller Building on the State Capitol complex and the Iowa Law Library is located on the second floor in the State Capitol building. Both libraries are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. For more information on the agency, go to www.statelibraryofiowa.org/about.
