Visit the main library during the month of January to see a selection of paintings by artist Chris Ann Abigt. Abigt showcases two styles of painting: a precise and photorealistic style and what she calls abstract splurges- brilliantly playful, colorful, and somewhat surreal paintings.
From the Artist
My husband Bill and I have been involved in the "Art" Business for over 30 years.
I am the painter/ teacher and Bill is the businessman - the one that keeps it all organized!
We were raised in the Cedar Rapids/Marion, Iowa area where we met in college. We married in 1981 and shortly thereafter, moved to Ottumwa, Iowa where we have been ever since. We love this small town where we raised our three children and where we have owned and operated M & J Art Gallery and Frame Shop since 1984. Our children are all now grown and married and we have two wonderful Grandsons who delight our days!
Now that our kids are making lives of their own, we have been enjoying hitting the road and participating in the Art Show scene. We look forward to meeting and visiting with new people; it is the highlight of traveling and enjoying our weekend Art Festivals and Art Shows.
