Instant Messaging

Abbreviated IM, this a type of communications service enables you to create a kind of private chat room with an Iowa Library Services staff person in order to communicate in real time over the Internet. This is analagous to a telephone conversation but using text-based, not voice-based, communication. This instant messaging status page tells you which staff people are online and available to chat. You can initiate a chat session with anyone in the list below whose status is "Available" (green).

Click on the person's name to start the chat. You will be asked for your name, and optionally, your library and e-mail address.
