The goal of the State Library Continuing Education program is to help library staff acquire, maintain and develop their skills in order to provide the best service possible to their customers and community.
The State Library uses the WebJunction Competency Index for the Library Field when designing continuing education opportunities. We adhere to a high standard of learning principles, so each of our classes have:
- stated learning objectives
- activities that are used to meet those objectives
- an evaluation process to make sure those objectives are met
- a knowledgeable instructor or consultant conducting the training
Our Continuing Education program is integral to Public Librarian Certification, which requires certified library staff to earn a minimum of 45 continuing education contact hours every three years.
