Session 14 - Written Assignment
This written assignment should be done following the class meeting. You will receive information in that class that will help with the assignment.
All written assignments must be typed using a word processor. If you have access to Microsoft Word, please use that and send it to your instructor via e-mail as an attachment. If you need to use another type of word processor (such as Microsoft Works or Word Perfect), please cut and paste your assignment into an e-mail and send it that way.
Written Assignment for Session 14:
For this assignment, interview a teenager in your community. This person could be a library user or a non-library user. Some questions are suggested below, but you may want to customize the interview to suit your interviewee and library.
-
Age, Grade, School, Male/Female
-
How do you stay up on trends, or what is cool?
-
What are your hobbies?
-
Do you use the library? Why or why not?
-
What do you like best about the library?
-
What do you like least about the library?
-
What would make the library a place where teens would want to go?
-
Would you be interested in serving on a Library Teen Advisory Board?
After the interview, write up a report of what you found out from your teen and your reaction to what he/she said. Did you learn anything new? Did anything surprise you? What are the special needs exhibited by young adults? What appear to be their reading, listening, viewing, and online interests? What can the library do to meet these interests and to offer a place in the library for teens?
