Professional library association activities

Participating in professional library association activities at a leadership level such as serving as president of the Iowa Library Association, chairperson of ILA Governmental Affairs Committee or ILA Conference Planning is eligible for continuing education credit.  Comparable positions with national associations would also qualify.

Maximum number of credit received per eligible activity is 10, for each three-year recertification period. If you are unsure whether an activity is eligible for continuing education credit, please contact the Continuing Education Consultant.

To obtain credit:

  • Complete and submit a Learning Activity Written Summary form.  This is an online form that will go to the Continuing Education Consultant.  Please include your position and duties with the association, length of appointment and the successes during the appointment.
  • After reviewing the information, the form will be e-mailed back to the person who submitted the form with the amount of continuing education credit awarded.  This e-mail will serve as a certificate and should be printed and saved with the person's other continuing education certificates.
  • If you are unsure whether an activity or appointment qualifies for continuing education credit, please contact the Continuing Education Consultant.
