Town Meetings
What Are Town Meetings?
Annual town meetings provide opportunities to learn about major issues affecting libraries, to gain ideas for improving programs and services and to get to know Iowa Library Services staff.
The theme of the 2011 Town Meetings is "The Future is Partnering".
Fostering partnerships is vital for libraries as they face challenges today and in the future. This year’s Town Meetings focus on existing and future partnerships between libraries and other community organizations.
The morning includes updates about library services reorganization and other topics from Iowa Library Services and the Iowa Library Association. District Office and Des Moines staff will be available to answer questions about Iowa Library Services programs during poster sessions, and will also premier their new movie.
The afternoon sessions include facilitated discussions on a variety of topics related to partnerships, technology, fund raising, and the library as a “third place”.
