Please come to class prepared to discuss the following information. Assigned Web sites require you to read and familiarize yourself with the home page and then browse through the site, unless specifically asked to read certain pages.  You are not required to read everything on the site.  Articles should be read in their entirety.

• Community Needs Assessment: An Overview in Collection Development Training for Arizona Libraries - describes the importance of community needs and long-range planning in the collection development process
• Community Scan (worksheet, with links, for community studies) - from the Iowa Library Service Areas Web site
• A recent issue of your local newspaper.  Please bring this with you to class.
