Session 9- Reading Assignment
Please come to class prepared to discuss the following information. Assigned Web sites require you to read and familiarize yourself with the home page and then browse through the site, unless specifically asked to read certain pages. You are not required to read everything on the site. Articles should be read in their entirety.
- Your library's Internet Use Policy - Please bring a copy to class. If you don't have one, look at Ames Public Library's Internet Use Policy and Guidelines
- Libraries and the Internet Toolkit - From the American Library Association (ALA). Read sections: Checklist for Creating an Internet Use Policy, What You Can Do, Tips For Parents. Browse through the rest of the toolkit.
- Toward Equality of Access: The Role of Public Libraries in Addressing the Digital Divide - A 36-page report from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Read the Executive Summary and browse the rest of the document.
- Sustaining Public Access Computing Programs - a list of competencies on WebJunction Iowa
