Continuing Education Options

There are a number of ways to obtain continuing education credit for Public Librarian Recertification:

• attending preplanned continuing education activities on specific topics offered by agencies, organizations, academic institutions and professional associations, for which no formal academic credit is being given
• doing learning assignments following continuing education activities
• attending live national teleconferences or webinars and/or watching the videotaped versions of continuing educational activities
• doing self-directed learning
• conducting an Individualized Continuing Education Plan
• taking a library or library-related course for academic credit
• serving as an instructor for a sponsored continuing education activity
• participating in professional library association activities
• writing a library-related article for a professional publication

Not all activities are eligible for Continuing Education Credit.  Please see our list of ineligible activities or contact the Continuing Education Consultant.
