Extra CE Credit Guidelines

In order to receive extra continuing education credit for each genre session, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Read a title in a sub-genre you haven't read before.
  2. Review the title.  The review must include:
    • short plot summary (compelling without giving anything away)
    • identify appeal factors and specifically what you liked about the book
    • connection to other titles both within the genre and outside the genre
  3. Create two book lists using the choosen title and post both to the Iread wiki.
    • List 1 can be either a read alike list or a topical book list.
    • List 2 is a Readers' Map (click for definition and guidelines).
    • See the Iread wiki for examples - topical lists and read alikes are found under each genre.  The Readers Maps can be found under the Readers' Journeys link.
  4. Submit the review and the book lists to the trainers (michele.leininger@lib.state.ia.us and kdunneback@sls.lib.ia.us).  The trainers will post the reviews to the appropriate Iread blog, but the student is required to post the book lists to the Iread wiki.
  5. One CE credit will be awarded for each completed title.  Up to three CE credits may be earned per genre session.
  6. All extra CE credit must be completed and submitted within one month of the session attended for each genre.
