Town Meetings
What Are Town Meetings?
Annual town meetings provide opportunities to learn about major issues affecting libraries, to gain ideas for improving programs and services and to get to know State Library and Library Service Area staff better.
The theme of the 2009 Town Meetings was The Passionate Librarian. In the morning, we learned about what it means to be a passionate librarian, the impact a passionate librarian can have on the level of support for the library and the importance of describing how libraries transform lives. We also heard from our friends at the Iowa Library Association.
Morning activities also included an Passionate Librarian exercise during which attendees wrote how they show their passion for libraries on post it notes. Scroll down to see what people shared.
The afternoon sessions included The Future of SILO, Library Programs for Adults, and WebJunction/TechAtlas. Documents related to these workshops can be found in the Town Meetings 2009 link on the left side of this screen.
