Iowa Library Directory (pdf)

The Iowa Library Directory (pdf) lists 740 libraries.  Please notify the State Library, 1-800-248-4483, of corrections or changes.

The directory includes the 7 digit "smart" Locator Code for SILO, the State of Iowa Libraries Online network. Populations and size codes are from the 2000 census or the most recent special census. Each directory entry contains a name and address section followed by other information, such as phone number and hours open. Branch libraries are included. There are cross references from the library's given name, to the city served by the library.

Libraries are listed by type (total number of libraries in parenthesis), including Public (543, plus 21 branches), State Agency (14), State Institution (22), Special (65), Academic (79), the Iowa Library Service Areas (7), and Area Education Agencies (10).

NEW:  Now includes Children's and Teen Librarian and Web URL. All e-mail and Web addresses are clickable with Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.  Street address and mailing address are now separated to comply with USPS requirements. Also, director e-mail is now listed along with the general library e-mail.
