Books offer a wide variety of invitations to look, listen, touch, move and communicate. (Animals can make sounds. Point to illustrations.)
Children are at the beginning of language development at this age.
Promotes increased attention span in children.
Children enjoy getting together as a group.
Children come to love reading and the library.
Teaches the adults how important it is to talk, sing, and read to children.
Goal of the program is not to get kids to read at age three, but to set the stage for lifelong learning and the love of reading.
