Grinnell College Libraries is seeking applications for the position of Manager of Access Services. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt level position.
Responsibilities: The Manager of Access Services provides Libraries-wide coordination of day-to-day services and operations associated with Circulation, Reserve, Interlibrary borrowing and lending, document delivery, stacks maintenance, and retrieval from offsite storage and the Curriculum Libraries, assuring responsiveness to patrons, consistency of policy across library units, and efficiency in use of staff time and library resources. He/she supervises, hires and evaluates 6 support staff and 130 hours/week of student staff; schedules and assists in providing circulation and other public services in the libraries; coordinates communication, student training, and interpretation of policy within access services. The position reports to the Associate Librarian of the College
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required and five years working experience, preferably in a library is desirable. Experience with management or supervision is highly desirable. Normal working hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but must have flexibility to work some nights and weekends. Experience with direct customer service in a library or other setting is desirable. Experience in a college setting is preferred. Must be computer literate; experience with library computer systems is preferred.
