Harlan, IA. Library Director

The Harlan Community Library is seeking an energetic, passionate, community-oriented individual to serve as its library director.  The director must possess strong technological skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and the library staff. Duties would include total administration of the library, including computer and web-based knowledge, financial understanding, leadership ability, record-keeping, collection development, and an absolute love for people and books.  Candidates must possess an MLS from an ALA accredited program.  Benefits include health insurance, IPERS, sick leave, major holidays, vacation, and a most competitive salary.  The director would supervise a staff of five and would function with and report to the library board.  More complete and detailed information is available on the library website http://www.harlan.lib.ia.us/.  Applicants should send their resume and cover letter with a minimum of three work-related references via e-mail to paulab@harlannet.com.
