Librarians

  • Librarians make a world of difference in people's lives. They empower people by offering resources, services, programs and training to expand their knowledge.
  • Librarians are familiar with a wide variety of information sources.  They assist people in finding and evaluating information and using it effectively to meet their personal and professional needs.
  • Librarians also manage staff; select library resources; develop Web sites; direct information programs and systems so that information is organized in a manner that meets people's needs.
  • Great library service does not happen without great librarians.  The State Library provides these resources for and about librarians because we value the important work librarians do and have a deep respect for Iowa's dedicated librarians.
