More about Library Development
Library Development staff work to make library service in Iowa the best it can be by offering services and programs for libraries. We are funded primarily with federal Library Services and Technology Act funds (LSTA) from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
- We administer Enrich Iowa which includes Direct State Aid to Public Libraries, Open Access and Access Plus.
- Our consultants specialize in particular areas such as continuing education, library statistics, technology, library services for kids, grant writing and more. Our support staff can help you with general information about Library Development services and programs.

What We Care About
- We are passionate about the value of libraries and the difference they make in people's lives.
- We advocate for libraries and librarians and seek opportunities for them.
- In partnership with libraries, we identify and create innovations for helping libraries improve services for Iowans.
What We're Currently Emphasizing
While all of our programs and services for libraries are important, we are putting particular emphasis on:
- PLOW (Putting Libraries on the Web) - hosting the Web sites of nearly 300 public libraries.
- Telling the Library Story - tools for articulating the value of libraries.
- Improving the cataloging records in the SILO Locator.
