How To: Add Your SILO E-mail Account to Outlook Express
Initial Configuration
- Start Outlook Express.
- From the Tools menu, select the Accounts... option.
- Click on the Add button, and select the Mail... option.
- In the Display name: field, enter your full name.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the E-Mail address: field, enter your full e-mail
address, e.g. username@cityname.lib.ia.us.
- Click on the Next button.
- From the My incoming mail server is a... menu, select the
IMAP option.
- In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field, enter mail.cityname.lib.ia.us where cityname is the name of your city as it appears in your domain name.
- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field, enter mail.cityname.lib.ia.us where cityname is the name of your city as it appears in your domain name.
- Click on the Next button.
- In the Account name: field, enter your full e-mail address, e.g. username@cityname.lib.ia.us
- In the Password: field, enter your password.
- Click on the Next button.
- Click on the Finish button.
- Click on the Close button.
- If a window pops up, asking "Would you like to download folders from the mail server you added?", click on the Yes button.
- Select the Spam folder.
- Click on the Show button, if the button is not disabled.
- Select the Trash folder.
- Click on the Show button, if the button is not disabled.
- Click on the OK button.
Additional Settings That Must Be Changed
- Pull-down the Tools menu and select the Options...
option.
- Select the Send tab.
- From the Mail Sending Format menu, select the Plain
Text option.
- Click on the OK button.
- Pull-down the Tools menu and select the Accounts... option.
- Select the Mail tab.
- Select your PLOW e-mail account.
- Click on the Properties button.
- Select the Servers tab.
- Check the My server requires authentication checkbox at the bottom of the window.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP): field, enter 587
- Click on the OK button.
- Click on the Close button.
