Request Items Using a Blank Form
- Locate and verify the bibliographic information of the needed item.

- Search the new version of the Locator
- Search for an item in WorldCat or any Iowa library’s catalog on the Internet. Find a list of Iowa Libraries in the Iowa Library Directory.
- Open a new browser tab or window.
- Log in to SILO Interlibrary Loan.
- Select the Choose a Blank Form to Request Items not found in the SILO Locator option.
- Click on the Submit Request button.
- Enter the name of the library staff member to contact if there are questions about the request.
- Type or use the copy/paste method to enter the citation information in the form.
- Use the pull-down menu to select the item format.
- Be sure the item is verified and enter the verification source. Examples of sources include "new Locator" “Article First” “OCLC” and “Local catalog”.
- Enter the seven digit Locator Code of the potential lenders to create the lender string. The 7-digit Locator codes can be found in the Iowa Library Directory.
- Click on Submit ILL Request.
This form can be used to request items found on the new version of The Locator. Iowa Interlibrary Loan protocols apply.
