Excluding Items from Navigation

The Exclude from navigation property is an important setting for items, such as images, that are incorporated into other places on the site, but should not be available to users to navigate to and view in a stand alone manner. On Plone sites the Images and Archive folders in the Home folder are excluded from navigation.

1. Log in as an author
2. Navigate to the Home folder
3. Click on the Contents tab
4. Find the folder you would like to exclude from navigation
   
5. Click on the folder
   
6. Click on the Edit tab
7. Click on Settings in the sub-tab area
   
8. Check Exclude from Navigation
9. Click on the Save button
10. Notice that your folder now disappears in the tabs across the top of the page or from the left hand navigation
    

If you would like to show a folder in your site's navigation follow the above steps but uncheck the box in step 7.
