How to Add a Folder

  1. Log in to the site as an author
  2. Navigate to the preferred location for your new folder
  3. Click on the Contents tab
  4. Click Add Item and select Folder from the list of options
  5. Add the metadata:
    • Shortname
    • Title
    • Description
  6. Click on the Save button
  7. Click on Categorization, Dates, Ownership and Settings for additional functions
    • This information, also referred to as metadata, is the collection of information that is used to categorize an object, assign effective dates and expiration dates, language and keywords. It is available on all content types. Here are the descriptions of the metadata:
      • Categories - All content types can be assigned keywords. The existing keywords list will grow as words are added to content by entering new keywords into the New Keywords box. Existing keywords can be selected from the list for any content type
      • Location - the geographic location of an item if applicable
      • Language - Always leave this as Language Neutral (site default)
      • Publishing Date - Date when the published content should become available on the site. See Changing Effective Dates and Expiration Dates on a News Item
      • Expiration Date - Date when the content should no longer be visible on the site.
      • Contributors - The names of people that have contributed to this item. Enter each contributor on a separate line.
      • Creators - Persons responsible for creating the content of this item. Enter a list of user names, one per line.
      • Copyrights - A statement of copyright can be entered here indicating the copyrights on this item.
      • Allow Comments  - PLOW sites do not use this - leave this unchecked
      • Exclude from navigation - If selected this item will not appear in the navigation tree. See Excluding Items from Navigation
      • Enable next previous navigation - This enables next/previous widget on content items contained in this folder
  8. Click on State:Private and select Publish from the list
