How to Edit a Page in Plone
- Log in as an author
- Search and find an existing page to edit
- Click on the Edit tab
- Information about the page is displayed: who authored the page and when it was last modified
- Edit any of all of the following metadata:
- Shortname - Edit as necessary. Type it in lowercase only, do not use underscores, hyphens are okay, keep it short. If you do not see the shortname field you can set this to show in your account preferences.
- Title - The red square means this is required. Edit as necessary. This is used to identify the content in a number of areas:displayed at the top of the page and in the browser's title bar, as part of the navigational breadcrumb trail, as a link in search results and folder content displays. All content needs a title. No length restrictions. Make it descriptive.
- Description - Necessary but not required. Edit as necessary. Introduces the content; directed at user; helps the user determine usefulness of the document; it is less than a paragraph; it does not need to be written in complete sentences, phrases are okay; state the purpose of the content.
- Body Text - The red square means this is required. Edit as necessary. This is the actual content of the document. You can type plain text or HTML. Use click and drag to select text. Use the delete or backspace key to delete text. Use the kupu editor to format text. Use keyboard commands (Ctrl C, Ctrl V, Ctrl X) to copy, paste and cut, or use the Edit menu from the browser to copy, paste and cut. NOTE: The right-click menu options do not work in Plone.
- Related Item(s) - This is optional. Include content from elsewhere on the site that is related to the current page. To add related items use Browse..., to remove related items, click on the item in the list and click remove selected items.
- Allow Discussion on this Item - Ignore this. The discussion feature is not appropriate for PLOW Web sites.
- Shortname - Edit as necessary. Type it in lowercase only, do not use underscores, hyphens are okay, keep it short. If you do not see the shortname field you can set this to show in your account preferences.
- When you are done editing click on the save button
