SILO Electronic Mail

SILO offers e-mail service to any public library in Iowa with a high speed Internet connection. Each library gets e-mail addresses that are specific to them and end with .lib.ia.us. Library directors can manage the e-mail accounts for their staff, and each staff member can have their own account.

Library staff can access their e-mail from any computer with a web browser and an Internet connection through web mail. If your library has e-mail hosted at SILO, you can login to your web mail using a URL that looks like:

http://mail.cityname.lib.ia.us

where cityname is the name of your city as it appears in your domain name. For more information about web mail, click on the web mail link in the left column.

Library staff can also access their e-mail through popular client software. SILO provides technical support for Outlook, Outlook Express, and Thunderbird. To learn how to configure these clients for use with your SILO e-mail account, click on the name of the software in the left column.
