Moving Your ISP's Account to SILO in Outlook Express

Retrieve Your E-Mail at Your ISP

  1. From within WebMail, click on the Options link in the left pane
  1. Click on the Advanced Options link under Setup Options
  2. Click on the Check Other Email Accounts link
  3. In the Host field, enter the address of Internet Service Provider's (ISP's) Incoming mail server (POP3).  This address should be listed in your ISP's e-mail documentation.
  4. In the Username field, enter the Account name you use to get e-mail at your ISP.  It is everything before the @ in the e-mail address at your ISP.
  5. In the Password field, enter in the password for your ISP's e-mail account.
  6. Click on the Save Account Details button.

Stopping Retrieval of Your ISP's E-Mail in Outlook Express

  1. In Outlook Express, pull-down the Tools menu and select Accounts...
  2. Select the Mail tab.
  3. Make sure your account is highlighted in the left pane, and click on the Properties button.
  4. Make sure the General tab is selected.
  5. Uncheck the Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing checkbox.
  6. Click on the OK button.

Setting up Your SILO IMAP E-Mail in Outlook Express

  1. Back at the Internet Accounts window, click on the Add button and select the Mail... option.
  2. Enter your full name in the Display name: field
  3. Click on the Next > button
  4. Enter your SILO e-mail address in the E-Mail address: field
  5. Click on the Next > button
  6. Select IMAP in the My incoming mail server is a... menu
  7. For the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field, enter mail.yourlibrary.lib.ia.us where yourlibrary is the name of your library as it appears in your domain name.
  8. For the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field, enter the same name as you did for the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field
  9. Click on the Next > button
  10. Enter your full e-mail address in the Account name: field
  11. Enter your password in the Password: field
  12. Click on the Next > button
  13. Click on the Finish button
  14. Click on the Close button
  15. If a window pops up, asking "Would you like to download folders from the mail server you added?" click on the Yes button.
  16. The folders will take a few seconds to download.
  17. When they are finished, click on the OK button
  18. A list of folders will appear in the right pane of Thunderbird.
  19. Place a check in the checkboxes for all of the folders.
  20. Click on the Synchronize Account button.
