About SILO Interlibrary Loan
- SILO Interlibrary Loan is on the Web and ready to use! Any Iowa library with holdings in the SILO Locator can now use the SILO Interlibrary Loan system to borrow and lend library materials.

Participant Agreement
- To participate in SILO Interlibrary Loan, a library must agree to the rules of interlibrary loan in Iowa.

Find a Locator Code
- Your seven-digit Locator Code is needed to login to SILO Interlibrary Loan. Locator Codes are found in the online Iowa Library Directory or the print version of the Iowa Library Directory.

Login
- SILO Interlibrary Loan requires a library to login each time it is used. This identifies the library and begins the session. The system is password protected and is for the use of Iowa libraries.

Search the Locator
- Search the SILO Locator to identify library materials to borrow from other Iowa libraries.

Submit a Request
- After searching the SILO Locator and identifying an item to borrow, click on the item to transfer it to an interlibrary loan form.

Request Journal Article with Blank Form
- The SILO Interlibrary Loan system can be used to request journal articles from other Iowa libraries. SILO Interlibrary Loan provides a blank form.

Request Items Using a Blank Form
- The SILO Interlibrary Loan system can be used to request items found in the new version of The Locator until the new version is linked to the SILO ILL System.

View Open Requests as the Borrower
- Check your in box every day to see if your requests have been filled.

View Closed Requests as the Borrower
- Helps you keep track of items you have borrowed from other libraries.

View Summary Reports and History

How to request multiple copies of a title
- Use separate ILL borrower request transactions for each copy desired, using different lending libraries for each request. For example, generate 10 ILL transactions if you need 10 copies for your book club.
