Request Journal Article with Blank Form
- Locate the citation information for the article to be requested. Verify the information using a periodical index, such as EBSCOhost or FirstSearch.
- Find locations of libraries in Iowa that own the issue of the journal. OCLC's WorldCat provides this information.
- Record the citation and location information.
- Find the lending library's seven digit Locator code by searching the ILL directory
- Log in to SILO Interlibrary Loan.
- Verify that the holding libraries are active SILO ILL Participants by checking the Participating Libraries list:
- From the SILO ILL Main menu select "Access Iowa Library Directory/Library Account Information"
- Select "View List of ILL Participating Libraries"
- Verify that the library is not suspended from lending
- Navigate back to the Main Menu and select the Choose a Blank Form to Request Journal Articles option.
- Click on the Submit Request button.
8. Enter name of the library staff person to contact if there are questions about the request.
9. Type citation information in the form.
10. Type in the verification source, e.g. ArticleFirst
11. Click in the checkbox for one or the other copyright compliance:
- CCG (Compliance CONTU Guidelines) CCG for all articles requested that were published within the past five years
- CCL (Compliance Copyright Law). CCL for all articles requested that were published more than five years ago.
13. Enter the seven digit Locator code of the potential lenders to create the lender string.
14. Click Submit ILL Request
