Upload MARC Records to the Iowa Locator
- From the SILO-Interlibrary Loan System Menu, choose the Upload MARC Data Files For Inclusion in Iowa Locator option.
- Click the Submit Request button.
- The upload page allows you to select the files on your local computer that will be submitted to the Locator. If you’re sending records from a floppy disk, insert the disk now.
- Click on the first Browse button to select a single MARC file from your computer. Navigate the file selector to the disk and folder where your exported MARC files are saved.
- From the Choose File window, navigate to the file that contains the saved MARC records.
- Select the file then click the Open button.
- After a MARC file is selected, the browser returns to the File Upload page. To send another file, use another browse button on the main upload page and repeat steps 3-5.
- After you’ve selected all of the files you want to send, click on the Upload Files button. All of the MARC files will be transmitted to SILO.
- Click on Submit More MARC Files to upload additional MARC files.
- Click on Upload Activity Reports to view your file upload history.
- Click on ILL System Menu to return to the SILO ILL Main Menu.
| File Name | The name of the file that was sent from your local computer system |
| Action Combined | Adds and Deletes may have been included in the file. |
| Action Deletes | The status flags on each MARC record will be ignored. All records will be treated as deletes. |
| Record Count | The number of valid MARC records found in the file |
| SubmittedYes | These records were successfully submitted. |
| SubmittedNo | This file was not accepted. Check for red error messages. |
NOTE: Check the Force delete status box only when you want all MARC records in a file to be treated as deletes. This option will over-ride the status on all records in the selected file, so add records will be treated as delete records. This option is useful for libraries that run automation systems that don’t support exporting batches of deleted records.
