Excessive Search Results and Editing a record

  1. If the search yields too many matches search again using different search criteria. For example, “Harry Potter and the half-blood prince” could be searched again using a standard number or adding the author to the search criteria.
  2. If the search yields no matching records or only one possible match, you can choose Edit Submission. The MARC editing function will allow you to fix invalid or missing MARC tag information. You will be presented with editing options for only the MARC record tags that can be changed. Pay close attention to the examples and carefully enter data from your item into the editing boxes in the format indicated.
  3. Click on Add as New Title. The revised record will appear in the SILO Locator after the 10th day of the next month.
  4. You can also choose not to edit the record and click Discard Submission to remove the record from the Exception List. This record will NOT be added to the SILO Locator.
