Various methods to submit MARC Records to the Iowa Locator
If your library is a participating library in the SILO Interlibrary Loan System, you have agreed to add the bibliographic records of materials owned by your library to the Iowa Locator (Iowa libraries’ online union catalog).
Submitting MARC files Using Your Web Browser
If you have an automated library system, export a batch of records from your system then upload them to the Locator using the MARC File Upload feature in the SILO ILL System using a web browser. The MARC File Upload option can accept up to ten files in a single batch. Files may include adds and deletes. You may also force all records in a file to be processed as deletes.
Online Add & Delete
Some libraries do not have access to a source for MARC records. These libraries can add their holdings to existing records in the SILO Locator by using the Online Add & Delete option.
- Online Add & Delete is accessible through the SILO ILL System.

OCLC Libraries
SILO receives records directly from OCLC on monthly transaction tapes. SILO also receives notice of deleted OCLC records. OCLC libraries do not need to submit holdings or deleted records via MARC File Upload or Online Add & Delete.
