Add a File Exercise #2

This exericse completes three tasks: editing a MSWord document, creating a PDF document from the MSWord document and adding the PDF document to the Web site.

  1. Open the MSWord document C:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.doc
  2. Edit the document at the bottom to add date/time/location data to the text box. This can be fictitious data.
  3. Save the document in the same place: C:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.doc
  4. Open PDFCreator
  5. Click Document - Add
  6. Navigate to C:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.doc
  7. Click Open
  8. Accept default file data - Click Save
  9. Navigate to C:\Desktop\PLOW - Click Save
  10. Open Web site
  11. Log in as an author
  12. Navigate to Use Our Library - Book Clubs
  13. Click on Contents
  14. Click Add Item and select File from the drop-down list
  15. Add metadata:
    • Shortname - poster
    • Title - Poster for Book Discussion
    • Description - Download and print this poster to place in your home or place of business to publicize our upcoming book discussion.
  16. Click Browse
  17. Navigate to O:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.pdf
  18. Click Open
  19. Click the Save button
  20. From the State menu, select the Publish option
