Add a File Exercise #2
This exericse completes three tasks: editing a MSWord document, creating a PDF document from the MSWord document and adding the PDF document to the Web site.
- Open the MSWord document C:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.doc
- Edit the document at the bottom to add date/time/location data to the text box. This can be fictitious data.
- Save the document in the same place: C:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.doc
- Open PDFCreator
- Click Document - Add
- Navigate to C:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.doc
- Click Open
- Accept default file data - Click Save
- Navigate to C:\Desktop\PLOW - Click Save
- Open Web site
- Log in as an author
- Navigate to Use Our Library - Book Clubs
- Click on Contents
- Click Add Item and select File from the drop-down list
- Add metadata:
- Shortname - poster
- Title - Poster for Book Discussion
- Description - Download and print this poster to place in your home or place of business to publicize our upcoming book discussion.
- Click Browse
- Navigate to O:\Desktop\PLOW\sample poster.pdf
- Click Open
- Click the Save button
- From the State menu, select the Publish option
