How to Publish an Item in Plone

Content on a Plone Web site is in one of two states at anytime:

Private - it has not been published and it is not visible to the public. It is visible to a logged in author.

Published - it is published and is visible to the public.

By default all newly created content is in a Private state.

A published item can be retracted to return it the Private state.

Publish an item

1. Log in as an author
   
2. Navigate to an item in the Private state
   -or-
   Create a new content item and save it
   
3. From the state: drop down menu in the upper right corner select publish
4. Navigate to the Folder containing the item
5. From the state: drop down menu in the upper right corner select publish

Retract an item

1. Log in as an author
   
2. Navigate to an item in the Published state
   
3. From the state: drop down menu in the upper right corner select retract
